A friend of mine has just arrived from SE Asia and passed me some very useful information that is going to help all those looking for a reliable bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Many agencies around Khao San Road sell tours, bus and train tickets to many destinations. Tickets for land transportation to Siem Reap at these agencies are cheap, around 200 baht (6USD, £4, €5) one way, for a 10-hour journey. Very cheap, but there’s a catch. That “includes” a visa scam at the Cambodian border, where you’ll be asked for much more money, in addition to having to make your own way from there to Siem Reap.

Bus Service From Bangkok to Siem Reap Cambodia

You can avoid all the hassle, being left behind and demands for extra payment at the border, if you use the bus from The Transport Co., a Thai government company, providing direct buses from Bangkok to Siem Reap. It has priority at the border and, should you have any issues, the bus staff will assist you. Another alternative would be to book tickets online via Bookaway site.

At the border, all foreign travellers will get off the bus, get their visas. Then all Thai passengers will get their exit stamp. The bus will be waiting for you on the Cambodian side of the border.

The Transport Company’s website would usually be a good starting point, but it’s all in Thai. You may buy the ticket at Mochit 2 Bus Station, or just cut the nonsense and buy your ticket online. Apparently, you will receive a booking code and you can make your payment at any 7/11 stores. The actual ticket will be handed to you at the bus station on your departure date.
