Gudauri is located around 3 hours from Tbilisi, near the foot of the Great Caucasus and along the scenic Georgian Military Highway, it’s the most popular place to visit in Georgia in winter

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Gudauri Ski Resort offers nice fresh snow during the winter months, with the season lasting from November to late March. So, if you’re planning your trip and looking for accommodation in Gudauri, read on and I’ll give you some suggestions.

Where To Stay In Gudauri, Georgia

4-Star Hotels In Gudauri

Carpe Diem Hotel

Carpe Diem Gudauri is located right in the center of town, close to the second ski lift. The 61 rooms and suites are decorated in a contemporary style and are very spacious – the smallest rooms are 76sqm (237sq ft) – and have all modern facilities, including a minibar, flat-screen TV, and quality toiletries.

The hotel has a restaurant serving a hearty breakfast, as well as Georgian and international cuisine for lunch and dinner.

Carpe Diem Hotel also has a brand new spa offering massage and other treatments and an indoor swimming pool, sauna, and solarium. Entertainment options include a private cinema and disco. The hotel also has a ski rental shop.

Marco Polo Hotel Gudauri

Marco Polo Hotel is one of the best hotels in Gudauri and one of the nearest to the ski area. This modern hotel has spacious and well-appointed rooms that cater for couples, singles or families. When it comes to leisure facilities, they offer more options any other hotel in town, with a fully equipped gym, a spa, jacuzzi and a large indoor swimming pool.

Marco Polo Hotel Gudauri also has a bar that is open until 3am and a restaurant serving modern European and Caucasian dishes. Gudauri Ski Lift 1 is only 0.1 miles from the hotel. Guests can also make use of their free parking.

Gudauri Hotel Loft

Looking where to stay in Gudauri, I came across Gudauri Hotel Loft. Rooms here are very nicely decorated, modern with a lot of vintage touches, making it one of the most stylish hotels in Gudauri.  is located 0.2 miles from Ski Lift 1 and offers free parking. The hotel has rooms for single and double occupancy, as well as Junior Suites with mountain views. The in-house restaurant serves Georgian cuisine.

The one downside to it is that it doesn’t offer leisure facilities, such as sauna, jacuzzi, etc. But if that is fine with you, it’s a very good choice of accommodation in town.

Hotel GoodAura

Hotel GoodAura is located in the town centre, 0.3 miles from Ski Lift 1 and most rooms offer great views over the mountains. The rooms are spacious, modern, decorated in different shades of brown and you can choose between twin, double, triple or family rooms. Many of them also have a sofa.

The hotel has a spa, sauna and jacuzzi, as well as a game area and an outdoor BBQ. A plus of staying here is the complimentary shuttle to the cableway, in addition to the free car parking. Hotel GoodAura is also rated as one of the best value hotels in Gudauri.

Apartments In Gudauri

Even though there are a number of good hotels in town, there are even more apartments in Gudauri, more than you would expect. The ski resort has become the focus of a lot of private developments and the number of apartments available is bound to increase in the next few years. The main difference between staying in a hotel and an apartment is that most hotels have a restaurant and your room is serviced daily.

Staying in an apartment, you will have a more private stay and you can buy your own food and at local mini-markets and cook your own meals, if you choose. They also accommodate more people than a regular hotel room. Here is my selection of Gudauri apartments that I can recommend:

New Gudauri Suites

One of the best features of New Gudauri Suites is its location: it is just 50 yards from Ski Lift 1. The apartments are spacious and range from Studio Room to 3 and 5-bedroom apartments, catering for large families and groups travelling together.

New Gudauri Suites also has its own restaurant serving international cuisine, Continental and buffet breakfast. If you prefer self-catering, the apartments also have a small kitchen for your convenience.

Leisure facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor pool) incur an additional charge. Booking.com guests have rated it 9.1/10.

Chalet Marina

Even though Chalet Marina considers themselves a guest house, I think it’s more suitable as an apartment. Here you can find bright and fairly spacious rooms for double and triple occupancy. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are nicely decorated, some with a bathtub.

Rooms at Chalet Marina do not have their own kitchen, but guests who want to cook can use the communal kitchen or book a private chef to cook Georgian food. Otherwise, there are several restaurants within walking distance. The guest house has a sauna available for guests to relax after a day skiing. It is located 0.3 miles from Ski Lift 8 and offers free parking.

Hostels In Gudauri

Hostel Kamara

Hostel Kamara is located right by the ski resort, just one minute from Ski Lift 1, offering ski-to-door facilities. The hostel has dorms to accommodate up to 10 people, as well as private rooms, some of them with a balcony. There are some thoughtful touches, such as coffee making facilities in all rooms.

The hostel also has washing machines, communal area to hang out, a shared kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. If cooking is not for you, you may choose to eat at their restaurant. The hostel is rated 8.5/10 by Booking.com guests.

White Shino Hostel

White Shino Hostel is one of the cheapest places to stay in Gudauri, located 350 yards from Ski Lift 10, in a perfect location. The hostel is fairly basic and offers clean dorms with 4 and 6 beds, private rooms with a queen-size bed and family rooms.

There is also a restaurant and a shared kitchen, if you prefer to cook yourself.

Gudauri is located 121km from the capital Tbilisi and the best way to get there is by car (check out car rental prices here or get a transfer). There are also regular minibuses from Tbilisi to Kazbegi via Gudauri. They are extremely cheap, but they are very uncomfortable and have little legroom and no luggage space at all.
