If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you already know that I’ve been flying all over the world for quite a few years. After years in the hotel industry, I turned my hobby – travel – into my full-time job. Well, as you know, I am a professional travel blogger, or however you may understand my job. 🙂 I am one of those people who love to just log on and search for flights to different destinations. I’m always on the lookout for cheap flights. It doesn’t necessarily mean I will be travelling, but it helps me have an idea of how much flights to different destinations are worth. That way, when the time to travel comes, I will know whether the price is reasonable, or if I could get a better deal if I am more flexible.

Over the years, I searched for cheap flights online and booked on different sites. Very often I happened to book on CheapOair, which proved to be my favourite site to find… well, you guessed: cheap flights!

On a recent trip to the US, I decided to extend my stay by an extra week. By doing so, I was missing my return flight to Europe. The thing is, when travelling by plane, it is often more expensive to buy a one-way ticket than a round trip one. For that reason, I started searching for a round trip ticket from Miami to Madrid, Spain. That meant that I was again going to miss my flight to Miami, but hey, I was saving money, after all!

While doing my research, I wasn’t too surprised when I found the cheapest flight on CheapOair. The round trip Miami-Madrid-Miami cost me just under $400 with all taxes included. By any measure, that was a “wow fare”, especially if we remember I was booking in the last minute! Of course, I was quick to book on cheapoair.com to guarantee the lowest price. In my situation, my new travel date was set, but CheapOair still offered a 4-hour free cancellation guarantee. Just in case, because we know, things can change.

An example of a cheap flight result on CheapOAir, similar to the one I bought

My return trip to Europe has already taken place, but above is an example of a similar flight to the one I booked on cheapoair.com. I flew with American Airlines, which is a member of the One World alliance. That way, I was able to accrue miles on my British Airways loyalty card.

One thing I find super useful on CheapOair is that, if you’re booking in advance, unlike my Miami-Madrid flight, you can sign up for notifications. That way, you will be notified when the fare on your desired flight goes up or down.

Even if you prefer to just pick up the phone and speak to a real person, they have a team of travel agents ready to talk to you and help you book the cheapest flight – unlike other online agencies, who are cutting on staff and favouring online bookings. This is very handy when you are flexible with your travel dates or have some more complicated travel arrangements.

Now, for next year, I am looking for some travel inspiration, as I am looking to travel somewhere new in the US. So browsing Miles Away, the CheapOair blog, I am discovering some cool American destinations. I’m sure that I will find some cheap flights, once again! What about you, are you planning to travel somewhere next year? Go on, be cheap!
