More often than not, London is hit by heavy rains and severe gales, which affect roads and bring the railway system to a standstill. On one recent Christmas night, the wind was hitting my window and making that hissing noise that reminds you of a horror film scene.

Nonetheless, I decided to brave the rain and the wind and go for a walk, since the city has been extremely busy with shoppers running around, and I’ve found it quite difficult to appreciate the city these past few weeks.

I walked from Westminster station, where I had a superb view of the blue-lit London Eye, crossed Westminster Bridge, walked along South Bank and crossed Waterloo Bridge, which offers one of the most privileged views of the capital, and where the wind nearly carried me.
