Located in London’s West End, The Ivy Market Grill combines the best of British cuisine with the sophistication of one of the most recognised brands in London’s gastronomic scene. The restaurant opened its doors in 2014, presenting itself as a more informal alternative to the iconic – and celebrity’s favourite – The Ivy. It was not long before it made its own name, becoming one of London’s hottest pre and post-theatre restaurants.

Just like its “older sister“, The Ivy Market Grill is in the heart of Covent Garden and is a great choice for those who want to try typically British dishes with a touch The Ivy‘s glamour. The Ivy Market Grill is not an exclusively British restaurant. It does have a menu with several local classics as well as traditional English breakfast (with vegetarian options) and afternoon tea throughout the day.

For the non-celebrity clientele who never had the opportunity to visit the original Ivy, The Ivy Market Grill‘s menu features a version of the famous ‘Ivy’s Shepherd’s Pie’, made from lamb. If lamb is not your cup of tea, you can also taste variations of the good old fish and chips and other classics, all at much more affordable prices than “the older sister“. Main courses cost between £13.50-£32.50 on average, and the set menu options cost £ 16.50 (two courses) and £ 21 (three courses).

Overall, the restaurant has an elegant decor, especially the outside space, which overlooks the hustle and bustle around Covent Garden. The tables are a bit too small and you may feel a bit squashed, but that does not quite compromise the overall experience. We recommend booking your table in advance, but here you will not have to wait months to secure a place. Depending on the time and the number of people in your group, it is possible to even get a table without a reservation, but that’s something that we cannot guarantee.

Looks like a fantastic spot for a night out … think I will give it a go when I end up in London later this year!

Look it is the exciting place to enjoy lunch and meet friends. But, do you think the drink in here is expensive? With me, £13.50-£32.50 on average is expensive.
