I thought hard whether I should or not, but in the end I decided to enter Travel Supermarket Capture the Colour photo contest. I'm far from being a professional photographer, nor do I have a great camera, but I love taking pictures, and I'm one of those people who are always ready to photograph whatever grabs my attention. I'm totally aware I don't really stand a chance, but, hey, taking part is what really maters, right? Riiight??
Travel Supermarket, one of the world's largest price comparison sites, is sponsoring this competition. Participants must submit a picture that best captures a colour: blue, green, red, white and yellow.
Feel free to let me know what you think of my entries, please! :-)
Whilst looking for some winter sun this year, I chose Morocco, for the proximity with Europe and the beautiful scenery it offers. Tired of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, I went to Essaouira to wind down. This shot captures the tranquillity and laid back pace of this relaxing coastal town.
A few years ago I took a trip to Scotland with a train spotter friend. We went from Fort William to Mallaig, in which we could see many lochs and the famous Glenfinnan viaduct - for those who never heard, it was made even more famous on the Harry Potter series. In Mallaig we took a boat to Armadale, in the Isle of Skye, and went to visit Armadale Castle, home to the Donald clan. This picture was taken in the grounds of the castle, near the museum.
Last year I had the opportunity to do my first safari. I stayed at the Enkewa Mara Camp, on the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. On the safaris, there was always one or two Maasais with us. Tipira was one of them. He was a typical Maasai person: very tall, strong and svelte, pleasant and alert. He always knew the best places to spot the animals and this image of him on the lookout for the animals really captures the spirit of the moment.
|Snow over Cluj-Napoca, Romania|
This spring I flew to Romania's second largest city, Cluj-Napoca, on the way to Moldova. I arrived early evening and it was very cold. What a surprise did I have in the morning, when I opened the curtain to discover a very thick layer of snow! The view from my hotel window was that of the perfect Christmas postcard, except it was already late March...
I dreamed of travelling Iran for many years. Finally, last autumn I had the chance to visit the country and I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and the beauty of the cities. Esfahan, the old capital, is a real jewel waiting to be discovered by the rest of the world. I took this picture while strolling on the Hasht Behesht park, not far from the famous Imam Khomeini Square.
To keep colouring the world, I would like to nominate the following bloggers to participate:
- Erin and Simon, of Never Ending Voyage
- Chris and Heather of A Brit and a Southerner
- Marcello Arrambide of Wandering Trader
- Eytan of 20 Liter Adventure
- Dale and Franca of Anglo-Italian, Follow Us!
You may check out the competition's terms & conditions here.
By the way, you won't forget to let me know which one you like the most, right? :-)
